I did a session two weeks ago and we used the following setup:

rack toms (3) and floor 1- Beta 57
    Floor tom 2 - Audix D6
    Snare - Audix i5
    Kick inside - AKG D112
    Kick outside - Oktavia
Hihats and overheads - Audio Technica condenser
    Ride - Neumann U87
    Room - Pair AKG 414

Plus, Avalon, SSL, and API mic preams.

Needless to say, the drums sounded great. For one track, we primarily used just the pair of AKG 414s with lots of compression and the kick mic. Talk about that great Bonzo sound!

Sure! But just note that these are with rough backing tracks and not mixed. These are for a Christmas CD we will be releasing next year:

First one is "What Child Is This" I come in around 2:45.

Second one is "We Three Kings" and I did a bulk of the arrangement with the guitar player

I'd love to get you feedback!

What was your budget? It would probably make it easier for those giving recommendations. Even if you don't want to spend too much, don't feel shy about telling us.

    Danny, thanks for posting these!

Very nice solid playing and great drum sounds! Cool groove on Child and I liked the waltz at the end of Kings. I know it's just a ruff mix, but could've used more hi hat in the mix on Kings.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the replies. Andy, I actually played the hats really soft on purpose because I THINK they are planning a heavy crunch guitar track, so I didn't want to get in the way. Either way, it can always be made louder.

    Thanks for the feedback!
